Gudhi padwa is a spring time festival that marks the traditional new year for Marathi (Hindus) It is celebrated in and near Maharashtra on the first of the Chaitra month to mark the beginning of the New Year according to the Lunisolar Hindi Calendar.



This festival is observed with colorful floor and small lamp, a special gudhi flag is hosted.

This pictures are from the Famous Fort named as Durgadi Killa Fort in Kalyan City.





On this festive day, courtyards in village houses will be swept clear and plastered with fresh cow-dung. Even in the city, people take the time out to do some spring clearing. Women and children work on rangoli design on their doorsteps and lamps are kept on the doorsteps. Everyone dresses up in the new clothes and it is a time for family gatherings.



Hence this is a New Year Celebrated!! Happy New Year !!
